Rev. Joseph C. Gregorek, Ph.D., V.F. first established his scholarship in February of 1995 but his latest gift will be matched
by Gannon under the provisions of the Tom Power “Power” Scholarship Challenge.
Fr. Gregorek earned a B.A cum laude in philosophy from St. Bonaventure University, a B.S. in biology from Catholic
University of America and a Ph.D. in anatomy from the Medical College of Virginia. He has dedicated his life to education
and has been a long-time member of the biology faculty at Gannon.
In October of 2011, Fr. Gregorek was inducted into Gannon University’s Faculty Hall of Fame and remains a favorite
professor among healthcare professionals across the country. He is credited with preparing these alumni for the rigors of
post-graduate and medical school studies.
In establishing his scholarship Fr. Gregorek said, “In all my years of teaching at Gannon, I witnessed the great
transformation and success of those I was fortunate to teach. I simply wanted more individuals to be able to benefit and
achieve these possibilities.
The Reverend Joseph Gregorek Endowed “Power” Scholarship is among the almost 200 scholarships at Gannon endowed
by corporations, foundations, families and individuals. Last year, Gannon University awarded nearly $914,000 in
scholarships to more than 400 deserving students from a diversity of locations, backgrounds and financial circumstances.
More than 90 percent of undergraduate students received some type of Gannon grant or scholarship. Endowed gifts to
Gannon can also help fund faculty positions, professorships, chairmanships, faculty excellence and study abroad programs
at the University.
