The bitter cold temperatures make it hard to believe, but the re-opening is Sunday at 10am.
Admission is free of charge for everyone thanks to J-H Bennett Moving and Storage.
Not only will families be able to check out the lions, red pandas and orangutans after the hiatus, but there will be activities for everyone in the family.
Scott Mitchell, President and CEO of the Erie Zoo, says although the zoo has been closed, the staff was busy behind the scenes.
The lions were moved into the former gorilla area where zoo visitors can have a nose to nose experience with the animals.
Construction was also underway on the old lion and neighboring polar bear exhibit which will continue through summer.
At Sunday’s opening day there will be free donuts and coffee as well.
Organizers are expecting a great kick-off to the upcoming season.
