February 3, 2014- An important piece of legislation could potentially cause drastic cuts to food stamps and hinder how thousands of Pennsylvanians are eating each day.
The U.S. Senate is currently reviewing the Farm Bill.
If it is passed, the bill could eliminate a state benefit regarding food stamps.
That benefit is said to deliver nearly sixty dollars a month in food stamps to more than 170 thousand families.
Food banks and other charities are believed to also be effected.
The legislation could reach President Obama later this week.
The Senate was scheduled to pass the bill this week after a test vote Monday.
