ERIE — Guhan Venkatu, vice president and senior regional officer at the Pittsburgh Branch of
the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, will discuss current national and regional economies —
five years since the end of the Great Recession — during the Manufacturer & Business
Association’s (MBA) next Eggs ‘n’ Issues briefing starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, September 4, at
the Association’s Conference Center, 2171 West 38th Street at Pittsburgh Avenue. All media
are invited to attend.
“We are thrilled that we were able to work with Erie’s own Karla Mullenax Wludyga at the
Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland to bring such a highly regarded Fed official to Erie for this
most important economic discussion,” said MBA Marketing Director Tammy Polanski. “We
believe this is going to be one of the Association’s most highly anticipated briefings this year.”
As part of his presentation, Venkatu will describe the progress of the economic recovery to this
point, nationally, as well as in the Erie area.
Venkatu has 15 years of Reserve Bank experience and is responsible for maintaining a strong
presence for the Bank throughout western Pennsylvania, southeastern Ohio and the northern
panhandle of West Virginia. As the senior official of the Pittsburgh Branch, he manages
relationships with key stakeholders in the area and is responsible for monitoring the region’s
economic environment.
For the past several years, Venkatu’s economic research has focused on inflation and inflation
expectations, housing and household finance, and factors related to regional economic growth.
His research and analysis have been a resource for the public, and he has advised and
informed the Bank’s president and board of directors on economic conditions and various
policy issues. He is a member of the Ohio Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors. He also
serves on boards that oversee the Economic Club of Pittsburgh and Economics Pennsylvania.
