According to erie firefighters they were called to the v-f-w in the 25- hundred block of Ash Street just before 4 a-m on Sunday where heavy smoke was pouring from the first floor.
While firefighters began to fight the blaze the floor collapsed beneath a firefighter..
Luckily crews were able to quickly remove the firefighter from the building...
He was not injured and returned to duty.
The building sustained smoke and water damage.
There is no word at this time what started the fire.
