Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the stars and stripes of the United States Flag by Congress on June 14th, 1777.
The day also acts as a reminder for those to properly dispose of their torn, tattered and old American Flags.
Several area organizations are collecting old flags and will eventually burn them out of respect for our country.
You can drop off your old American Flags at several area VFWs and American Legions year round.
In addition, the Boy Scouts of America are also accepting flag drop offs.
