More than 600 GE volunteers left their Lawrence Park plant and headed out in the community to do some special work.

Today is the annual GE Community Day, the day when GE volunteers take on several community projects.

The volunteers went to Central High School where they painted classrooms and cleaned and also repaired the bleachers in the gym. They replaced several worn out seat boards and painted the bleachers.

GE volunteers also went to Community Health Net and The Boys and Girls Club of Erie where they also painted rooms and walls and did some minor repairs as well.

The volunteers say they are glad to participate in Community Day because it gives them a chance to give back to the community
