Hit and Run Leaves Pedestrian with Life Threatening Injuries

Police are investigating a hit and run that has seriously injured one man tonight.
Around 7:20 p.m. tonight police and ambulance crews were called to the 15 hundred block of Liberty Street for reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

They found a man, police say is in his early 50's, lying in the street bleeding from the head, but the car that struck him had fled the scene.
The victim was transported to UPMC Hamot.
Erie police describe his injuries as life threatening.

Witnesses said the victim was crossing Liberty Street and the car was last seen heading south on Liberty with possibly moderate to heavy front-end damage.
There is no other description of the car.
