High winds caused some tense moments for one ice fisherman on Erie's bayfront this morning.

Rescue crews were called to the foot of Chestnut Street for a distressed ice fisherman.

Officials say the man could not make it to shore because the winds were so bad.

The man did not fall through the ice but rescue crews from all different organizations were on the scene ready to help the fisherman.

West lake fire department used their ice boat to help the man return safely to shore.
