A new study just released says that intellectually disabled Americans are still being excluded from the workforce...

According to the study by Special Olympics and conducted by Gallup and the University of Massachusetts at Boston only 44 percent of intellectually disabled adults are in the labor force.

While 34 percent are actually working and 83 percent of non-disabled working age adults are in the work force.

Doctor Maureen Barber Carey, Vice President of the Barber National Institute says they offer supported employment services and also job coaches.

The Barber National Institute is working to place persons with intellectual disabilities.

Carey encourages local employers to hire those with intellectual disabilities to help change the statistics.
