A laboratory tasked with testing water and soil samples for the Department of Environmental Protection has been fined by that organization.

The DEP has levied a fine of two hundred and twenty thousand dollars on Microbac Laboratories Incorporated Erie Division.
This from a press release where the DEP cites that improper analysis may have led to false negative readings for drinking water samples.
DEP also found several instances of failure to properly report bacteria results in drinking water.

The lab has had to relinquish testing drinking water samples.
