After being closed to traffic for the past 3 years, the Lake Street bridge in Girard, Lake City will be replaced.  The bridge is owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad, and was closed after railroad officials apparently found unsafe beams under the 200 year old bridge.
According to Robert Stubenbort, Girard Borough Manager, The railroad will replace the bridge with a steel and wood structure instead of all wood.

There are still some applications that need to be submitted to the PUC, but if all goes according to plan, the new Lake Street bridge should be in place by December of 2015
