January 13, 2014 - This weekend marked the 12th anniversary of the first prisoners being taken to Guantanamo Bay, and across the country as well as right here in Erie, groups are protesting the prison.

Members of the community gathered outside of Erie's federal building early this evening for the Guantanamo vigil.

The vigil was hosted by the Mary the Apostle House.

Organizers say this vigil is important to shed light on the horrendous conditions 155 male prisoners are being housed under.

Protesters are hoping the Obama administration will close the prison and release the detainees -- who protesters say are unfit to be imprisoned.
