Man injured in Waterford Grain Auger Identified

July 17, 2014- JET24 has learned the name of the man injured in an agricultural accident Wednesday morning.

Sources say 57-year-old Eugene Sparling is the employee injured in the grain bin at Troyer Growers.

Reportedly, Sparling and other employees were cleaning the remaining corn from the nearly empty bin when he became entangled in the auger that removes the grain from the enclosure.

The man was extracted from the auger and taken by helicopter to UPMC Hamot.

He is currently stable following surgery.
