July 17, 2014- One man had to be pulled to safety when fire broke out at his apartment building.

Emergency crews were called to that fire at 623 East 12th Street just after 1a.m.
When fire fighters arrived on scene, they found a man hanging out of a second-story window.
Smoke covered much of the block, causing police to shut down East 12th Street.

The man was quickly rescued, and taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment.
Crews put the fire out quickly; it took them only about ten minutes.

The fire did start on the second floor of the building, but the actual cause of the fire is unknown.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to figure out what sparked the blaze.
