JUNE 17, 2014-- About 75 people supporting the anti-discrimination ordinance signed a petition and presented it to the Meadville City Council. Surrounding areas including Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and Erie County have all already adopted an anti-discrimination ordinance. Supporter for the ordinance say it would give people a chance to feel safe in the community knowing they would not be discriminated against. Those opposed to the ordinance say they believe it is a violation of the second part of the PA constitution. They say that business owners and property owners should be able to follow their conscious. Meadville City Council is expected to discuss the issue on Wednesday, but no decision will be made. The discussion is expected to attract supporters for and against the ordinance.
