Mental Illness Awareness Week Takes Place in October!

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Erie County participates in Mental Illness Awareness Week every year. This year, Mental Illness Awareness Week takes place from October 6th-10th. NAMI of Erie County plans to host several events, including a keynote speaker event on Thursday, October 9th.

The keynote speaker will be Gina Calhoun, the National Director for Wellness & Recovery Education at the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery. Gina will provide a keynote that is focused on different aspects of recovery. Also taking place at the keynote event will be Family-to-Family and Peer-to-Peer program reunions, along with the official launch of NAMI of Erie County’s “Packs of Prevention” campaign aimed at raising awareness about suicide on college campuses.

Other events that will take place during Mental Illness Awareness Week include presentations at Edinboro University, Perseus House Charter School of Excellence, and at the Faith Temple Annual Women’s Weekend.
