August 26, 2014 - The Day of Service is a chance for the university's newest class to jump right into the Mercyhurst giving spirit.

The Mercyhurst University freshman class is getting hands-on giving back to the community as part of its annual Day of Service tradition. Hundreds of students donated hours of their time to support more than 20 organizations in the Erie area.

For those organizations, it's some much needed help. For students, including group leader Maire Dunning, who is actually a senior, this day is all about fulfilling the Mercyhurst mission of helping others in the community.

So whether "reaching out" meant packing food for seniors in need, helping fill about 10,000 Easter eggs, or spending time with our veterans at the Soldiers and Sailors Home, it's surely been a day to remember, a day to make new friends, and a way to start the school year off right.
