The budget is for $90.8 million.
The district plans on raising taxes above the Act 1 index; however, the district still has to apply to the state for that exception.
Superintendent Bill Hall says raising taxes is not ideal; however, the district has exhausted so many of its other options in decreasing the deficit.
With the proposed tax increase, the district's deficit would drop to $4.4 million.
Keep in mind, the district was facing an $8.8 million deficit.
The final budget must be approved by June 30, 2014.
