MARCH 24, 2014 -- The Millcreek School Board approved 11 bids for renovations to McDowell, Grandview and Chestnut Hill. This round of accepted bids will cost the district nearly 2.4 million dollars in renovations. The renovations include repairing the roof at Gradview and electricity updates for Chestnut Hill. Along with the previously approved window upgrade at McDowell, the school will also have other renovations including painting, replacing lockers, walkway and exterior restoration and replacing the turf at Gus Anderson Field. Officials say this project will be a multi phase process with several rounds of bids coming in. This phase will focus mainly on fixing Mcdowell and will cost the district around 8 to 9 million dollars. During the meeting the school board appointed a temporary director of operations. Thomas Del Fratte will be serving as the director through the end of June. The position separates the finance and operations roles into two positions. Del Fratte says his first order of business is to make sure these renovations go smoothly. Another set of bids for this phase of renovations is expected to be approved sometime in April.
