One of the suspects in the murder of Chautauqua County resident Mary Whitaker has been charged with grand larceny.
43-year-old Jonathan Conklin was charged with that crime after he reportedly went into a restaurant in Sherman on August 3rd and stole $1,150 dollars.
Conklin then came back to Erie, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department issued a warrant for his arrest. Conklin and Charles Sanford were arrested on August 22nd and charged in the death of Mary Whitaker. Once in custody, sheriffs charged Conklin with grand larceny in connection with the theft from the restaurant.
