August 13, 2014 - Suicide is an issue on college campuses as well, with 1,100 students taking their own lives each year.

The National Alliance for Mental Illness or NAMI is planning several awareness events for National Mental Awareness Week in October.

They are currently collecting new or gently used book bags for a project they're hoping draws attention to the sensitive issue of student suicide; it's called Packs for Prevention.

If you'd like to donate a book bag, you can drop it off at the NAMI offices, they're located at 1611 Peach St.
