The non-profit will take over the former Wal-Mart along west 23rd street in Millcreek.
A ceremonial groundbreaking was held Wednesday morning and dozens of people were there for a sneak peak at the new building.
Right now, all that’s inside is the framing for the several rooms that will be built.
Those rooms will be used for therapy space for individual and family sessions, parent child interaction and specialized services.
The achievement Center serves close to 3,500 children with development disabilities and emotional or behavioral concerns.
Right now, the center leases 24 thousand square feet at the former Steris Building. The new building offers 52 thousand square feet
If all goes according to plan, the building will be ready for the Achievement Center by October.
