The new Summit Township building is now open for business, following a lengthy battle with mold at the former location. This state of the art building is the new pride of Summit Township, and no one is happier about the change than the employees. The new building is on Townhall Road. It replaces the building on Old French Road. The former building was closed in the Fall of 2011 after mold was found and employees started to get sick. Fast forward to now, and the employees have a new home. Construction recently wrapped and the building opened for business Monday. The occupants include the district judge, the water authority office and the municipal staff. The two-story, 24,000 square foot facility was built to be energy efficient. The technology is advanced in the new meeting room that seats 100 people. New audio and video equipment is included for presentations. After experiencing illness at the former facility, employees are all smiles, and thrilled to be in the new building. Employees tell me they're excited that they have room to grow into the building. They're even anticipating creating a Summit Township Historical Archive. To hear more about the plans for the spare space in the building, around our website and take a look at the web extra.
