JULY 9, 2014-- Millcreek Township Emergency Management is implementing a new program called Nixle that gives residents accurate safety information through alerts. Nixle is a trusted notification system that is free for public service agencies and for those who sign up. The township has already used the system for a water main break and for a power outage within the last week. It plans to continue using it for emergencies like severe weather warnings, road closures and more. Officials say the program is the way of the future with people on their phones, computer and tablets more than ever before-- and will help get vital information to a large number of residents quickly. You can sign up for the program by texting your zip code to 888777.
