February 25, 2014 - Tonight, several ordinances were moved to second readings and passed by Erie county council, but ordinances dealing with the county executive's request for new hires and salary increases were not, just yet.

County council members tell us they need more time before a vote can be made.

Keep in mind, just last week, county executive Kathy Dahlkemper made her case to council as to why she wanted to hire new people to join her staff, including a new IT director who would make roughly $87 thousand.

During that meeting, Dahlkemper said a mistake in the budget actually freed up some funds -- more than 700 thousand dollars --- which she hopes can be used to fund those four positions.

Dahlkemper was not at tonight's meeting, but members of her administration tell us the budgeting error is very uncommon and was the only issue they came across as they reviewed the budget.

County council will vote on the ordinances on March 11 at the 7pm meeting.
