North East Meeting Addresses Better Use of School Time
JULY 10, 2014-- A new plan for the North East Elementary School schedule could change things for people in the district, which has many parents concerned. More than fifty people came out to a special meeting for the school district to hear from concerned parents and get their input. The new schedule will extend the day by seven minutes and will now begin at 8:45AM and end at 3:30 PM. The plan hopes to enhance the student’s educational experiences and better utilize the time they have during the school day. The new plan also hopes to improve the safety and traffic at the school, which many say is a major concern. It will make some changes for the schools dismissal system. The school has 780 students grades K-5 that includes bus riders, students who get picked up from school and those who walk home. New procedures hope to make that system easier and safer but the flow has many people concerned. Parents also say they are concerned with the changes because they still have a lot of questions.
