Tirpak’s decision to retire will bring to a close a remarkable career of 36 years of continuous service to the Cooperative and its members. Tirpak’s notable professional achievements include the 2013 recipient of the JC Brown CEO Communication Leadership Award, National Food & Energy Board of Directors, Federated Rural Electric Insurance Board of Directors, NRECA 21st Century Committee and the Cooperative Research Network’s Council. Tirpak has served the local community on the Meadville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, including two years as President, the Board of Directors of the Community Health Services and the Visiting Nurses Association, where he served as President of both Boards. He also serves on the Meadville Medical Center Board of Incorporators. Tirpak has been a Kiwanis Club Member in Cambridge Springs for 35 years and has held leadership positions of Club President and Region 1 Lt. Governor.
Tirpak’s successor and native of the Meadville area is no stranger to the Cooperative. Mary Grill began her career with the Cooperative 37 years ago and brings a broad array of experience to the table. Professionally she holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Edinboro University in Business Administration and serves on numerous statewide and national committees concerning rural electrification programs including the NISC Utility Advisory Group and the NISC Enterprise Advisory Group. It was Grill’s leadership that brought to life the Member to Member, Inc. which today provides a hand up to many local member families that find themselves in a difficult situation.
Locally Grill has served as Vice President of the Meadville Cooperative Pre-School Board, President of the First District PTO, President of MASH Cheerleaders Boosters, President of MASH Baseball Boosters, Meadville Beautification Committee and recipient of the 2007 Business Woman of the Year award. Currently she is an active member of the Meadville Garden Club and the League of Women Voters. She also serves on the Board of the United Way of Western Crawford County and the Crawford County Essential Services Coalition. Mary resides in the Meadville area where she and her husband, John, have raised their four children, Jaime, Melissa, Anne and Zachary.
We invite the public to attend the Cooperative Palooza on June 9, 2014 at the office in Cambridge Springs to learn a little more about the Cooperative, celebrate Tirpak’s retirement, Grill’s new opportunity and see the benefits of the 2013 office renovation.
