PA Governor Will Not Appeal Same Sex Marriage Ruling, Couples Celebrate

MAY 21, 2014-  A federal court ruling strikes down a ban on same sex marriage Tuesday.
And today the Governor of Pennsylvania announces he will not appeal the decision.
It's a second day of celebration for same sex couple Kathy and Tina Czarnecki-Smith.
The same sex couple wed almost two years ago in the state of New York because at that time gay marriage was not legal in Pennsylvania.
We first reported back in February that the couple applied for a marriage license on Valentine's Day at the Erie County Courthouse.
They were ultimately denied...
But now, with the higher courts striking down the ban on same sex marriage Tuesday, the Czarnecki-Smith's are legally married here in Erie.
Their license from New York has now been carried over.
Kathy says it has been a long-hard fought journey to get equal treatment
She says these new decisions mark progress.
Marriage license applications can be filled out on the first floor of the Erie County Courthouse.
You will need your photo ID, social security card and other paperwork.
