Governor Tom Corbett has been notified by the U.S. Department of Human Services that the Healthy Pennsylvania Medicaid plan has met the requirements for a complete application.

With this notification, the commonwealth is one step closer to approval of a state-based solution of providing access to quality, affordable health care for all Pennsylvanians.

“We are encouraged by the quick response and positive acknowledgement from the federal government and look forward to continuing to work with HHS toward approval of the Healthy Pennsylvania plan,” said Governor Tom Corbett.

The proposed Healthy Pennsylvania plan is anticipated to begin in January 2015, and focuses on encouraging personal responsibility, providing benefits that match needs and promoting healthy behaviors.

The application has been posted by HHS which begins the 30-day public comment period.

March 28 will mark the end of the time provided for public comment.
