Perry 200 Celebration Far From Over as We Prepare for Tall Ships

July 5, 2013

4th of July events have come to a close, but that doesn't mean the Perry 200 Celebration is over. The Tall Ships will be arriving in
Erie before we know it. There's no rest in sight for the Perry 200 Commission or the folks with the Flagship Niagara. The parade of sail is just around the corner on  September 5, 2013. It won't be cheap bringing the ships here, but the Perry 200 gave $200,000 to the Flagship Niagara to help bring the ships to town. Erie will get that money back and then some. 60,000 tickets are expected to be sold, double the amount from 2010 Tall Ships event. Folks from the Flagship Niagara say Erie county businesses will likely rake in more than 6 million dollars over 4 days. The last time around, the Tall Ships were available for tours and rides, but this time there's a whole festival complete with music, kids events and vendors. A total of nine ships will be here and the 2 docked at Dobbins Landing will take passengers on 2 hour tours. Tickets for the sail are available starting August 1st and are expected to sell out. Day and weekend passes for the festival are already on sale. For tickets, you can go to the Erie Maritime Museum or online at
