Preservation Erie announced on Thursday that they have received enough funding to create a historic resource inventory of Erie. The organization just received 12,000 dollars from the Erie Community Foundation that brings their total funds up to 50,000 dollars for the project. Officials say cities all over the country have these tools available to know what historical assets are in the area. The current inventory is 30 years old and the update will include historic structures in Erie. Once complete it will be a planning tool for community leaders. These resources can be used for planning, Historical tourism, developing the community and educational purposes. Preservation Erie has already started collecting data for the inventory. The organization hopes to have it ready by the end of the summer.
