The new intersection opened for the first time this morning after months of construction on the nearly $2 million project. It's the first intersection of its kind in the area.
Route 19 north of the intersection averages nearly 14,000 cars daily. PennDOT officials say statistics show signalized intersections are more dangerous than single-lane roundabouts and this intersection has caused problems in the past.
PennDOT has plans to put in four more roundabouts in the area after they see how drivers maneuver through this new one. Crews are still out taking down temporary signals and signs so use caution when traveling through the area.
