Secretary of Commonwealth Speaks in Erie

- August 19, 2014 - As Election Day 2014 rapidly approaches, election officials from around the commonwealth have stopped in Erie for the Pennsylvania County Election Officials Conference at the Bayfront Convention Center.

While registration for the conference was on Monday, today, the conference really kicked off, with remarks by Carol Aichele, secretary of the commonwealth.

In her remarks, she touched on the benefit of this conference, such as ultimately giving election officials the chance to discuss how to manage elections, increase accessibility for handicapped people, get funding for PA elections, and much more.

Aichele said there is a lot of work that goes into making elections run smoothly and fair, and that she commends the workers who make it all possible.

"I can't underscore how important their role is to the people of Pennsylvania. Sometimes they are not recognized for the tremendous amount of work they do," said Aichele.
