Senator Bob Casey Hears From Struggling Caregivers

- August 20, 2014

An increasing number of people are struggling to provide help for both their children and aging parents.

Senator Bob Casey was in town to hear first hand about that struggle. It's called the Sandwich Generation, referring to the growing number of adults in their 40s and 50s who are caring for multiple generations while trying to keep up financially.

Senator Casey heard from local resources for aging adults today, as well as from people who care for loved ones who need extra help and shared his hope to raise minimum wage and increase the number of volunteer caregivers.

There are currently 42,000 people over the age of 65 living in Erie County. If you need assistance, there are some local resources to help. The Greater Erie Community Action Committee (GECAC) and the Area Agency on Aging can be contacted by visiting or calling 814-459-4581.
