A seven year old girl was taken to the hospital after a dog bit her in the face.
It happened in the 29-hundred block of Arcadia Avenue on Wednesday.
Reportedly the girl and her father were talking to a neighbor who did have the dog on a leash.
Police say the neighbor's pit bull broke free and bit the young girl on her face and jaw.
The girl was taken to UPMC Hamot with injuries to the jaw and did require about 15 to 20 stitches.
According to police, the dog is a family dog who has never been involved in any kind of prior attack and was up on its shots.
The dog is licensed and was in its own yard at the time.
Police animal enforcement officer, Tim Stevenson, is continuing to investigate the incident.
