MAY 14, 2014--The Erie County Emergency Operations Center hosted its annual severe weather training. The training brings many municipalities and other emergency agencies in the county together to prepare for the worst. The training goes through different exercises that prepare everyone in the county incase a real life emergency happens. Officials say everyone in the area is supposed to have a disaster plan and this is the way of checking it. Emergency operations crews say this brings everyone together to exchange information and practice for when the real thing happens. While the made up exercises had crews working on situations like tornados, building collapse and flooding. Emergency crews were also watching a real life storm that was coming through the area. The storm brought Erie County a severe thunderstorm watch, flood warning and flood watch through Friday morning. The emergency operations center had to keep their eye on the real thing while also testing their preparedness for other emergencies.
