In 1914, it was President Woodrow Wilson who signed the proclamation that made Mother’s Day a national Holiday. Through the years we have come up with many ways to honor "mom." But according to recent survey results the #1 gift is a gift card or certificate, and #2 is flowers. And that gift card is typically for spa services. Panache Salon & Spa in Millcreek can testify. They see a huge spike in the amount of gift certificates purchased this time of year. Statistics show that the average spent on gifts for mom is $68 - that will get you a manicure and pedicure at Panache. Depending on what you want to get mom, gift certificates come in any dollar amounts and are specially gift wrapped. Consumers buying gifts for mom to the tune of 56% believe that the gift should be on par with the labor she endured giving birth. Many moms might call that - priceless. What NOT to get for mom? The gifts that were wanted LEAST by polled moms are candy, chocolate and flowers. 30% of moms just want to spend Mother’s Day with family.
