According to Erie police, they had received a phone call Friday night from a woman who had indicated that a man at the West 20th Street residence was armed and threatening to harm himself.
When police arrived on scene they quickly closed down the area, and brought in the SWAT team. Eventually police were able to gain the release of a toddler who was in the residence at the time.
It is believed that the toddler was unharmed. As police continued to talk to the man he eventually came out of the house at which point police were able to taser the man and then take him into custody otherwise unharmed.
It is unclear at this time what exactly lead the the situation.
