An insurance and healthcare provider is making it their mission that no child will go hungry.

Workers from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield packed food backpacks for children this morning at the Second Harvest Food Bank.

They will then deliver the 130 backpacks to Pfeiffer Burleigh Elementary School students.

The backpack initiative was possible thanks to Highmark awarding 25 thousand dollars to support children in Erie schools through the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Highmark's grant will give 189 students food for 33 weekends during the school year.

Second Harvest Food Bank has been operating the backpack program for several years.
