Suspect Arraigned In January Ashtabula Murder

An Ashtabula man has been charged and arraigned in a January murder that left two people dead and a third critically wounded.

22 year old Taquan Mathers was labeled a person of interest following the double homicide at 2106 Norman Avenue on January 27.

Mathers is facing murder charges connected to shooting deaths of Lydia Colon Aviles, 43, and her son Alexis Xavier Colon Mook 20, during a home invasion.

A third victim Aviles son Benny Alexander Colon Mook, 23, has recovered from a gunshot wound that left him in critical condition.
