But lawmakers in Harrisburg are discussing laws that would tighten regulations on tanning facilities.
State Senator Sean Wiley calls it a critical piece of legislation, saying this bill in part, would protect children and make sure they don't have direct access to tanning facilities.
The bill made it through the senate public health and welfare committee and now moves onto the senate.
The bill would prohibit use of tanning beds by minors under the age of 17.
It would require parental consent for minors age 17 and 18.
If passed in the senate, it would require tanning facilities to post warning signs and customers would need to sign a written warning statement before they enter the tanning booth.
