MAY 16, 2013-   It's a popular tiny pill popping up on college campuses across the country especially during finals week ...

But when the prescription ADHD drug Adderall gets in the wrong hand, it can be deadly.

Ask a college student what they think of when they hear of the prescription drug Adderall and without fail, they know what it is, what it does and where they can get it.

It's being called a miracle pill, brain muscles, and the college student's version of crack...

The stimulant is a controlled substance often prescribed to treat ADHD and Narcolepsy...

It is used to stimulate a patient's nervous system, making them focus better, which may explain why its one of the hottest drugs on college campuses...

Dr. David Dausey of MercyhurstUniversity tells us about 7 percent of college students across the U.S. report illegally taking the stimulant... And using it as a study tool to increase their focus.

Sylvia, a 23 year old Erie college student asked us to conceal her identity... she tells us getting a prescription was simple... And once she took it, she was hooked.

Sylvia says the pill worked miracles...  She was able to focus longer on her school work, improve her grades and even lost 25 pounds.

Sylvia tells us that the drug has expanded beyond a study aid... Students are now using it when they drink and stay up later...

However, doctors warn Adderall may be habit forming and can cause psychosis and sleeping problems, heart problems, seizures and even death.
