This Weekend Gannon University Gives Back To the City Of Erie

- Nearly 400 Gannon University students, faculty, staff and alumni will dedicate this Saturday, April
26th to making the Erie area a better place.

Gannon’s Day of Caring is in collaboration with the United
Way’s Days of Caring, a community-wide, weeklong volunteer event throughout the Erie community.

Gannon annually designates a Saturday during the week to participate as a reflection of the University’s
foundational commitment to community engagement and service.

Groups will volunteer citywide, but will focus on the neighborhood surrounding campus that is part of the
Erie-GAINS (Erie-Gannon Alliances to Improve Neighborhood Sustainability) initiative.

Participants will have the opportunity to work with signature Gannon projects, such as TreeVitalize, Little Free Libraries and
the Gannon Goodwill Garden.

“This is important for students to participate in because it allows them to interact with their group and Erie community members to do something positive and beneficial for Erie,” said Sara Nesbitt, program assistant at Gannon’s Center for Social Concerns.

“It is important for the community because it fills a real need and
fosters good relationships between Gannon University and the city of Erie.”
