Tips for a Safe Summer of Grilling

May 28, 2014 - With summer quickly approaching its time to think about grilling safety and local experts are weighing in on how to keep you and your family safe when firing up your grill for the first time.

City of Erie Chief Fire Inspector Guy Santone reminds you to avoid loose fitting clothing, as well as, keeping your grill in a well ventilated area and away from your home is key to staying safe.

He also says that additional precautions are necessary when grilling with propane, like making sure that before firing up your grill you test the propane tubes to make sure that you don’t have a leak in the line.

Also please remember that if you are grilling and start to smell propane for your safety quickly call the fire department.
