May 25, 2014 - The patriotic spirit can be felt in full force this weekend, as Erieites are proudly honoring those who have served this country and have been instrumental in defending our freedom.

The Memorial Day Weekend ceremonies began Sunday morning at the Erie County Memorial Gardens, organized by VFW 470.

Later in the afternoon, the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home hosted its annual MDW ceremony, honoring all of the veterans living at the home, and all of the others who have fought for our freedom -- including those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

No matter where the ceremony was, the message remained the same: thank you to the vets for all that you have done for our country.
