Water Main Break Closes Parts of Peach Street

June 10, 2014 - A water main break damaging the road at Peach Street between 26th Street and 29th Street is closed until repairs are made on the main break.

The break happened around 1 p.m. Erie Waterworks officials say the water main break appears to have been caused by general wear and tear over the years. The repairs could take a couple of days. Crews were already on the scene working to fix the problem. No one was injured as a result of the break.

This kind of collapse in the ground is called an artificial sinkhole, they are considered to be cause by human activity, like a water main break.
