Crawford County Office of Emergency Services advises that a fiber optic phone line was cut in the City of Meadville near Mercer Street which is affecting land line phones and some cellular phones from dialing 9-1-1. Areas affected that we are aware of range from the City of Meadville through to the western municipalities of the county south to Jamestown and north to Albion area.
If you need emergency help please call 9-1-1 from a land line phone, then try a cell phone, and if neither one works drive to the closest staffed fire station listed below and in the City of Meadville the police station is staffed as well.
Fire stations that are currently staffed are: Conneaut Lake Park, Conneaut Lake, Conneautville, East Mead, Hayfield, Linesville, North Shenango, Saegertown, Summit, Springboro, Vernon Central, Vernon Township, West Mead #1, West Mead #2, Conneaut Lake Ambulance, Fallowfield in Atlantic, Meadville Police, Meadville Fire, Meadville Ambulance, and Jamestown.
Utility crews are working to restore the break in the line and estimate that it will take up to four hours for repairs to be made.
