- NAMI of Erie County will host a team in YEP!’s annual kickball tournament, Saturday, August 16, at the Harborcreek Community Park. The day-long tournament begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

In addition to playing in the tournament, staff and volunteers from NAMI of Erie County will provide an informational table and be available for questions.

The mission of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Erie County is to provide education and support of mental illness for individuals and families in an effort to improve the public's awareness and understanding of mental health.

As recognition for their efforts, NAMI of Erie County was chosen by YEP! as a beneficiary for this fundraiser, YEP!’s largest of the year.

Teams consisting of members from other local organizations and businesses will face off on four fields in a double-elimination style tournament.

NAMI of Erie County will use the donations from this event to continue to improve their two mental health education programs, Family-to-Family and Peer-to-Peer. The former is open to family members and caregivers with a loved one experiencing a mental health challenge. The latter is for the individual facing his or her own challenge. NAMI of Erie County’s programs aim to eliminate the stigmas surrounding mental illness by educating the community.
