Authorities in Meadville have CLOSED Smock Bridge due to flooding.
High water was evident on the road approaches to the bridge early this morning and the situation has worsened. A detour has been posted via Rt. 102 and the Mead Ave. bridge. Smock Bridge is the located on the main access road to downtown Meadville, carrying Rt. 322, Rt. 6 & 19 through the area.
In general, police and local government agencies are requesting that you avoid the area due to the flooding. Many side streets remain water covered.
Officials are concerned that flooding may get worse later in the day, so check in frequently for updates.
UPDATE at 12:40 PM:
Officials say that the French Creek Parkway south bound lanes towards Smock Bridge, are closed from Mead Ave. to the bridge.
Mercer Street Bridge, remains closed. Additional road closures are expected as the day goes on.
